Before you come
MRI safety screening
Complete the MRI safety screening questionnaire. Inform staff about implants, pacemakers, cochlear implants, surgical clips, metal fragments or other devices. Remove jewellery, watches, cards, phones and other metallic or electronic items. Wear MRI-safe clothing as instructed. Tell staff if you have claustrophobia or difficulty remaining still. Contrast MRI may require additional instructions. Inform staff about pacemakers, implants, metal fragments, clips or other implanted devices BEFORE entering the MRI room.

Usually no fasting unless contrast/specific protocol requires it. Follow instructions regarding bowel/bladder preparation if provided.
Radiology: general preparation
Arrive 10-15 minutes before your appointment. Bring your doctor's prescription or referral and previous relevant reports and scans. Inform staff about pregnancy or possible pregnancy. Inform staff about allergies, particularly if contrast may be used, and about any previous reactions to contrast media. Carry details of relevant medical conditions and current medications. Remove jewellery, watches and other metallic objects when instructed. Follow the specific fasting, hydration or bladder instructions provided for your examination. Children or patients requiring assistance should be accompanied by an appropriate attendant where required.
